Delicious food, warm and attentive staff, and a beautiful sense of humanity. The small table set up as a tribute to the genocide in Iran really stood out to me. Respectful, moving, and much appreciated.
About Narin
Narin is a family-run Persian restaurant in Northmead. The food comes from recipes our family knew long before there was a restaurant, and many of those recipes are still prepared much the same way today.
How Narin Found Its Home in Northmead
The family behind Narin started building the business in Australia in 2017.
Before that, life was very different. In Iran, one side of the family was busy running a factory in Malayer, while the other spent years cooking at home and looking after the family.
Food was part of everyday life. Recipes were learnt by watching mothers and grandmothers cook, tasting as they went and making the same dishes again for the next family lunch or dinner.
Opening a Persian restaurant brought those two parts of life together — the experience of running a business, and a kitchen full of recipes the family already knew by heart. Narin was built from there.
The cooking has stayed close to those beginnings. Many dishes on the menu come from food the family ate in Iran or prepared at home after moving to Australia.
The name has a family connection too — Narin was inspired by the family name Nari. It was never a name picked from a branding list. It came from the same place as the food.

Recipes We Know from Home
Some restaurants build a menu first and create a story around it later. At Narin, the recipes came first.
You'll find flame-grilled kebabs, saffron rice, Persian stews, soups and starters familiar to many Iranian households in our menu.
Persian spices and speciality products are sourced through Iranian grocers, and all meat prepared in the Narin kitchen is halal.
Persian cooking takes time. Rice needs careful preparation, stews need time on the stove and kebabs need to be properly prepared before they reach the grill.
For some guests, a dish at Narin brings back a familiar flavour. Others are sitting down to Persian food for the first time. Both are welcome at the same table.
Food for the Days People Get Together
Narin caters for gatherings and events across Sydney, from family celebrations to larger group orders. Catering options can be arranged around your guest numbers, menu and serving needs.

A Few Things That Have Stayed the Same
A lot has changed since Narin opened, but the things that matter in the kitchen have stayed much the same.

Very friendly staff. Food portions are so good and large. Food tastes amazing. It was the perfect meal after driving 3 hours from Canberra.
Amazing food and amazing service! Persian food truly is one of the most underrated cuisines in the world, and this place really delivers. Their food is amazing, and the prices are incredible as well. We even got a free dessert on the house one time we came here, and I could not be more satisfied with their service. Will be coming back regularly.
